Of vessels and blood cells: Recent advances in angiogenesis

The formation of new vessels from pre-existing ones, a process known as angiogenesis, plays pivotal roles in numerous biological events during later embryogenesis and adult life: reproduction, wound healing, and inflammation. Angiogenesis is also involved in pathological processes such as rheumatoid arthritis, diabetic retinopathy, tumor growth and metastasis, etc.

In this event, experts from national and international research institutes will review the molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis and will try to identify future challenges in the field with an interdisciplinary approach.
